I am Gloria Viganò,
25-years-old Italian designer.
My studies in the field of industrial design started with a BA course at the IUAV University of the Republic of San Marino and in 2015 I improved my skills during a MA course in product design at the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University.
I moved from a small reality where I learned the care of details, the attention for all the steps of the production system and their implications on market positioning, environmental resilience and modification of target behaviors.
In Italy I understood the meaning of handicraft and niche production and the relation between designer and materials.
London taught me the importance of user centered design approach thanks to its multicultural environment based on different people living together and sharing ideas.
I believe the real value of a product is related to the user experience and the emotional resonance which makes it unique.
As a result of globalization and mass production era we are facing a period characterized by a saturated market where products have to stand out thanks to their additional skills.
Nowadays the design challenge aims to satisfy not just consumers’ primary needs but designers must be able to combine functionality and feasibility of the product with users emotional involvement.
My design method is strongly driven by the passion for research and experimentation as well for food and simple lifestyle. I decided to combine these focusing my study on the relation between food and consumer mediated by design intervention.
I love to work in direct contact with the possible users basing my research on their feedbacks and testing them in order to design a product which perfectly fit and able to make a change.
